“I think we are coherent, electrically charged, superconducting, light-filled beings, and this foundation needs to be the basis of medicine—as well as of a healing process for all life on earth.” — Thomas Cowan, Human Heart, Cosmic Heart
When I was a kid, I remember the first time I was in a forest with really old tall trees. Some trees had branches that hung to the ground with places to hide, and others had limbs that had fallen away. There is a sense of majesty and strength that can be experienced in an old forest, and even as a child, I somehow felt that presence.
That day, I was on a trip with my family and needed to get away from my quarreling siblings. Standing next to one of the largest of those old and stately trees, I reached out and touched it and felt the calmness and patience that only an older living thing can emanate. As I settled next to that grand old tree, snuggling close to its huge branches with my book, a blanket of protection seemed to envelop me.
Perhaps you remember that feeling, being near trees whose energy you could actually feel? For me, it was not only an exciting adventure but unknown to me, it was also a way to energize every cell of my body. Although I certainly didn’t understand it at the time, as I huddled near the branches of that wonderful old tree, it was actually transferring an electrical charge to me that my body craved.
It’s as if we’re born with a natural intuitive grasp of the concept that there is an energy field emanating from every living thing. But, the demands of daily living can cut us off from that awareness. By being aware of the energy all around us, we can become more productive, stronger and healthier.
I have learned through my study of natural medicine and my personal experiences that if my mind or body begins to feel drained in the middle of the day, the answer is not necessarily a nap. The solution I’ve found for increasing my energy always works—and it’s not complex. I’ve found it’s easy to enhance my energy by taking advantage of the knowledge that the human body runs on electricity—and so I generally get up and go outside to renew myself.
Although we may feel renewed or recharged after spending a day out in nature, out on the beach, riding a bike, or hiking, most people probably have no idea how that outdoor activity has enhanced their bodies on a cellular level. But overall well-being has more to do with the electrical flow in our bodies than most people might imagine.
Humans are electric, light-filled beings who create growth, expansion and healing through electricity. When life gets too busy or stressful, and we find we have no time to get outdoors or exercise, the energy system within the body definitely suffers. Each cell runs on energy made from a very small number of electrons. When the body’s electrical system becomes disrupted or is under some type of stress, there is lower voltage and less energy available for each cell. When there is less voltage, the body will feel sluggish.
Every cell in the body has an optimal voltage. To feel better, sometimes all we need to do is get more electricity or voltage in the body. Healing can take place when that voltage is reconnected and increased. With increased energy, the body’s immune system can do its job by strengthening circulation and stimulating the lymph system throughout the body.
Several years ago, I planted a group of small wildflowers in our yard called trout lilies. They die back each year, but in early spring the variegated green leaves sprout, and one day a lovely little yellow bell flower appears. To me, it is such a champion of spring that my time in the garden planning and planting these beauties was invaluable. It renewed my energy and my spirit.
Many gardeners know the serenity that comes with working in the garden with plants. But for each of us, being out in nature and working with the earth can revitalize our health. Nature can strengthen the body’s voltage at a core level and expand it. With this increased electric current, the cells can sustain themselves and be renewed, and the entire system feels more whole and balanced.
The fascinating thing is that it’s actually fairly easy to increase the body’s voltage. All living things are either electron donors or stealers. One way the body’s charge is increased is through physical touch or hugs. So, you can increase your own energy just by hugging another person or even a tree, or by snuggling or playing with your pet. The person, pet or tree with the higher voltage will donate electrons to a person with lower voltage.
However, we live in a demanding and often stressful world. And while the body is resilient, voltage is drained under stress, and it doesn’t have to be a huge stress either. Just regular life events can be a drain. If you feel you’re being hammered at work or are dealing with assignments that keep you busy day and night, then your electrical system has become depleted. Add a little bad food, stay around stressful people too long, and skip exercise, and the body will let you know that its battery is too low to think, feel good or respond well to the demands of life.
When voltage drops too low, the first thing that happens is you feel tired, fatigued, or in pain. Of course, when there is not enough current or energy to send a signal, there is reduced voltage, which effects the entire body and can be observed in almost any disease. If this condition persists chronically, it can become a major issue. After a while, the individual may move from feeling slightly drained to feeling exhausted, weak and ill.
I’m sure you’ve heard people say, “I just need to recharge my battery.” Just like recharging your cell phone, you need to recharge your cells on a regular basis. Just a simple barefoot walk through beautiful green grass or strolling in the shallows of the ocean, or even just lying down on the ground can greatly enhance your body at every level by recharging your electrical system.
How does that recharging happen? There is a measurable resonance that comes from the earth. This resonance, called the Schumann’s resonance, volleys back and forth between the ionosphere and the earth. It serves as protection from the sun and nourishes life here on earth. It is essential for human health just like food, water, and oxygen are for the body. Interestingly enough, this electromagnetic energy vibrates at the exact same frequency as the brain!
These electromagnetic waves from the earth can pass through the body and penetrate tissue and bones to recharge each cell. Walking barefoot in the sunshine or working in the garden enhances the signal, increases your electrical voltage, and allows you to get a good dose of Schumann’s resonance. Who would have thought that a picnic at the park or a day of playing at the beach could increase your energy and be so good for you?
There are many ways to get electrons and increase energy. One is through unprocessed food or slightly cooked foods. Raw foods have living enzymes, bio-available minerals and carry much more voltage. Antioxidants are electron donors, capable of giving away electrons. Moving water, without chlorination, and the ocean are also electron donors, but moving air such as a wind is an electron stealer.
The body can also acquire electrons and voltage from movement and exercise. Muscles act as piezoelectric crystals, giving off electrons. A crystal emits voltage when squeezed. Similarly, in the body, muscles become activated and recharge while engaged in exercise. Acupressure or acupuncture also affect the energy centers or meridians of the body to enhance the voltage. By the same token, herbs, oils, aromatherapy and homeopathic remedies each have a specific frequency that can change the body’s energy to refresh and heal.
Humans are alive with electricity. Every nerve sends an electric signal from the brain throughout the body. But too much stress, eating poorly, overexertion, or any number of disruptions can deplete energy, causing less voltage. In order to stay balanced or to heal, we need to increase our energy at the cellular level.
The next time you feel sluggish, remember that there is a real reason for feeling this way. And as long as your body has not become too depleted, the solution is simple—just hug someone you love, play with a pet, or stroll through a beautiful garden. Get some exercise outdoors, eat raw foods, and recharge your system, and soon you’ll start feeling strong and radiant again.
